Drawing with ink, using different drawing tools from twigs to bamboo and metal dip pens, with a variety of inks. We will also look at masking methods, spattering, using ink with charcoal, and transferred line drawing to produce some unique prints with printing inks. Suitable for everyone interested in a more experimental approach to drawing.

With soft(chalk) pastel it is often ‘easier’ when you have ‘the right colour’ for a particular element in a composition, but there are ways of using blending and optical mixing, that can give exciting results. This workshop will provide a taster for a short course to be held in Spring 2016 which will go on to look at composing with colour in soft pastel.

What’s in your acrylic paint box?
This course will help you get the most from your acrylic paints by understanding the pigments with regard to hue, saturation, tonal value and transparency. Rigorous colour mixing using primary colours will be followed by experiments in colour interaction and glazing techniques.
