A week in Nice

February 13, 2020

Hard to believe nearly a year has passed since I filled my sketchbook with drawings in Nice, and that I’ll be there again in just 12 days time.

Here are some happy memories from February 2019.

Cours Saleya in “Old Nice” a flower market before lunch and bric-a-brac in the afternoon

A balustrade in the Chateau Gardens

Trees in the Chateau Gardens

Nice Harbour, the entrance viewed from the Chateau Gardens

The Monastery Garden at Cimiez a short walk from where Matisse and Dufy are buried on the hill overlooking the city.

A drink before lunch in Place Garibaldi

Nice Opera, before the performance of a Sunday family concert of magical harp music by Dohnanyi and Francaix

Nice Opera

The Harpists

Waiting for the bus by the Old Port

Gardens by the Musee Massena

Lunch on the Promenade

Patterns at Villa Kerylos

Towards the mountains and Eze from Port St. Jean

Last evening, watching the bay from the blue chairs

This is one of several sketch diaries from in and around Nice.  Can’t wait to get there again and see my friends!
